One of The Most Played Games on Steam!

Story Highlight
  • The latest free-to-play team-based hero shooter from NetEase Games has attracted almost half a million players on launch.
  • It launched to over 444k concurrent players, and this number comes from Steam only.
  • The game’s reviews are also pretty positive, as fans appreciate all the characters being unlocked at the start.

Marvel Rivals has been pretty hyped ever since it was announced. The game’s beta was proven to be a success, unlike Concord, which suffered a lot. This title caters to its fandom, and you can clearly see why.

In just 2 hours after its release, Marvel Rivals reached over 444k concurrent players on Steam, which is massive. This shows that an innovative hero shooter is still welcome even though we have already had Overwatch for a very long time.

Why it matters: Many were concerned after Concord’s failed launch that fans don’t need a hero shooter anymore, but the latest one from NetEase Games has proven them wrong.

As you can see in the image above, Marvel Rivals reached an all-time peak of 444,286 just two hours after it launched. Nearly 276k gamers are still playing it right now. This feat surely surprised many, but given how massive Marvel’s fandom is, it shouldn’t be that surprising.

Fans also seem to enjoy the game, as it has mostly positive reviews on Steam. The fandom has greatly appreciated the fact that all 30+ characters are available at launch and that the battle pass will never expire.

All characters unlocked will make the game 10 times better in the long run, trust me and Remember what they did wrong in Overwatch 2.

Some users are even calling it a game that respects your time and grind. So, overall, fans are enjoying it, but that doesn’t mean the title has no negatives, as it just launched, and it can never be perfect.

Some users have reported that the animations and movement feel a little stiff and boring. Other than that, some issues regarding the optimization were raised.

That said, what do you think about it becoming one of the most-played games on Steam? Have you played it yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forums.
