The Sequel Is Being Developed Using Unreal Engine 5.6!

Story Highlight
  • CI Games has confirmed that the Lords of the Fallen sequel will be darker and grimmer in narrative and gameplay.
  • The game has been given a mature rating because of its grim nature.
  • The project has also been moved to Unreal Engine 5.6 to ensure it has the best performance and quality possible.

Despite some calling Lords of the Fallen a generic Souls-like, it generated record revenue for CI Games after launch. The game gained further popularity after the studio spoke out against the woke culture and confirmed it won’t focus on forced diversity features.

Now, the studio is currently developing a new sequel for the reboot. As part of an upcoming Lifting the Veil podcast episode, CI Games has confirmed that the Lords of the Fallen sequel will be darker and more brutal than the first entry.

Why it matters: The Lords of the Fallen studio has decided to go with what the fans want for the sequel, instead of succumbing to mass censorship campaigns and maximum profits by aiming for a lower age rating.

The Lords of the Fallen sequel will be more brutal.

On Twitter, CI Games notes that the sequel has already been given a mature rating due to its grim nature. One of the developers described the sequel as having visceral elements, where the brutality lies in struggling to behead an enemy instead of having a clean cut.

CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski confirmed the sequel has moved to Unreal Engine 5.6 to leverage improved CPU load times. Therefore, we will likely see a noticeable bump in its optimization and overall quality.

The studio confirmed the Lords of the Fallen sequel will evolve rather than reinvent the genre. Progression will be shared across co-op and single-player modes.

Lords of the Fallen sold well after its launch.

For those not in the know, the Lords of the Fallen sequel is aiming to launch next year, allegedly as an Epic Games exclusive, with a heavy marketing campaign to start later in 2025.
