Says Epic Invested Significantly In The Game's Development!

Story Highlight
  • CI Games has revealed that Lords of the Fallen 2 will be an Epic Games exclusive.
  • It received heavy criticism as fans consider Steam to be much superior to Epic.
  • The CEO has defended the decision, saying Epic has been a great partner to them.

Lords of Fallen 2 was recently announced at Gamescom after the success of the original title. Fans were initially excited for the sequel, but the hype quickly dissipated when they discovered the game would be an Epic Games exclusive and wouldn’t be available on Steam.

Fans have voiced their anger as Steam is the preferred platform for most. However, the studio has defended Lords of the Fallen 2’s Epic Games exclusivity, saying that they’ve been a great partner to them.

Why it matters: Steam is generally considered a much better platform due to its robust support, freebies, constant sales, and being much lighter on the system, so fans prefer Steam as their go-to games launcher.

CI Games CEO defends Lords of the Fallen 2 exclusivity on Epic Games.

CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski took to X to talk about the matter after drawing heavy criticism from the fans. He said that the company made a significant investment in the game, which helped them maintain creative control.

He further said that their support has enabled them to push Unreal Engine 5 to new highs. They’ve been able to push the sequel much further, and it will be a very different experience from the original title released in 2023.

The Lords of The Fallen
The first Lords of the Fallen game was a big hit among the fans.

While this makes sense, it’s worth noting that Epic’s smaller user base means it generates fewer sales than Steam. We saw this with Alan Wake 2, which, despite being a GOTY nominee, failed to be a commercial success initially.

Nonetheless, fans seem to understand CI Games’ decision but are still skeptical about using Epic Games. Lords of the Fallen 2 releases in 2026 and is now available to wishlist on all available platforms.
