Keanu Reeves Would ‘Absolutely Love’ to Play Johnny Silverhand Again in Cyberpunk 2

Expert Verified By

It's Up to CDPR to Decide Whether Silverhand Returns!

Story Highlight
  • Keanu Reeves, the actor behind Johnny Silverhand, has expressed his interest in playing Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2.
  • The sequel has just begun pre-production, and there’s definitely room for Silverhand in the game.
  • The final decision lies with CD Projekt Red on whether they include him in the sequel.

While CD Projekt Red is fully focused on The Witcher 4’s development right now, they’ve also kicked off pre-production on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. Previously called Project Orion, the sequel is officially named Cyberpunk 2 and will be released after 2029.

Details regarding the sequel are quite scarce, with no word on which character we’ll get to see return in the next game. That is, Keanu Reeves has expressed his interest in playing Johnny Silverhand once again in the sequel.

Why it matters: Johnny Silverhand is arguably one of the most well-written characters in video game history, and Keanu Reeves’ performance was the icing on the cake. As such, his return will be quite exciting for the fans.

Keanu Reeves Saying ‘You’re Breathtaking’ Became One Of The Most Iconic Pop Culture Moments

While promoting his movie Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves was asked by IGN whether he would want to be a part of Cyberpunk 2. He responded by saying:

Absolutely. I’d love to play Johnny Silverhand again.

With the actor already interested in revisiting the role, it’s all up to developer CD Projekt Red whether to include one of Hollywood’s best veteran actors in the sequel or not.

However, inserting Johnny Silverhand into the sequel isn’t as easy as it looks. (Spoilers Ahead) Cyberpunk 2077 offers multiple endings, and there isn’t one canonical ending, at least not confirmed by the developers yet.

Silverhand gets to live in multiple endings after taking over V’s body. Now, for Silverhand to survive would mean making V’s death canon. This won’t sit right with fans, which is the reason why there isn’t a ‘canon’ ending in the first place.

Still, if CD Projekt Red were to offer fan service, V could be revived in some way. Or, Silverhand could appear in a few Easter eggs or in flashback sequences, which is the least the developers can do for the Silverhand fandom.
