New Cast Joins The Night City!

The Game Awards 2022 was one of the most significant gaming events of the year; despite Geoff Keighley‘s caution to fans to keep their expectations in check, the event was spectacular and filled with anticipated reveals, including Tekken 8, Crash Bandicoot, and Death Stranding 2.

CD Projekt Red also joined the event and released the second official teaser for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the upcoming DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.

The teaser gives glimpses of the gameplay in the new district of the Night City, where the detective tales of the DLC will take place. Other than that, a new cast of characters introduces Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed, an FIA agent for the New States of America who will be adjoining the players in the journey of espionage and survival. Keanu Reeves’s Johnny Silverhand was also seen in the teaser, which Keanu Reeves himself already confirmed.

Sasha Grey’s voiced new character Ash also made an appearance in the brief teaser, and she will also be joining the Night City’s Phantom Liberty. The hype for the new expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 is insane, especially due to the resurgence the game has seen in recent months, thanks to the significant 1.6 Update and acclaimed anime TV series, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, that attracted the players again to experience life in Night City.

The developers are also taking their time to polish this DLC to its finest, learning from their mistake at Cyberpunk’s launch in 2020. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is slated for a 2023 release window for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PC.

And the exciting part is that this is not it for Cyberpunk fans; while Phantom Liberty is the only expansion for the game, Cyberpunk Orion, the direct sequel, was also confirmed in October 2022. And the recent success of the Cyberpunk franchise has restored the fans’ faith in CD Projekt Red.

Interestingly, the core team that worked on the original game will also be working on Cyberpunk Orion. The recent earnings call of CD Projekt Red has also revealed that the studio has strategically distributed the dev teams on Cyberpunk projects to fulfill the fans’ expectations.
