Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC Not Coming To PlayStation 4

Expert Verified By

Unfortunate News For PlayStation 4 Users!

The hype around the Horizon games has been insane since the release of Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017. With the current installment in the Horizon Forbidden West series launched earlier this year, the franchise has solidified its reputation in the gaming industry.

Some while ago, we saw job listings that suggested that a DLC for Horizon Forbidden West was in the works, which turned out to be accurate when Guerilla Games recently announced at the Game Awards 2022 that the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC would be released on April 19, 2023.

Unfortunately, there is bad news for PlayStation 4 owners because, despite the game being released on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the DLC would only be exclusive to the PlayStation 5, as Guerilla Games stated:

we’ve made the difficult decision to focus all our efforts on making an incredible experience exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.

This is disappointing news for PlayStation 4 players. Still, it looks like Guerilla Games wants to primarily focus on the PlayStation 5 to make the best use of the more powerful console with more features.

Regarding the DLC, PlayStation 5 players would experience a graphical upgrade, and they would get to continue the story of Aloy, where she would be taken to the ruins of Los Angeles. The following lines make the DLC sound very exciting, but, unfortunately, PlayStation 4 players won’t be able to experience it.

Additionally, it appears that the Horizon series is only getting started since recent job listings have indicated that a new Horizon co-op multiplayer game is under development, which has us enthusiastic about the series’ future.

This is the limited information we have for now, but we will be looking for more news regarding Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC in the future.
