- GTA 6 is slated for release in Fall 2025, but trailer 2 has yet to be released.
- The Take-Two CEO recently suggested that this trailer would arrive closer to the game’s release due to a shorter marketing cycle.
- He states that shorter marketing cycles create excitement and balance expectations more effectively.
GTA 6 has practically vanished since Rockstar Games debuted its first trailer in 2023, creating a wave of disappointment among fans. While Take-Two recently confirmed a 2025 launch was still in the plans, fans are more interested in learning about a new trailer.
Take-Two’s CEO has now shared a small update on the matter, stating that a shorter marketing window will be more effective for GTA 6.
Why it matters: Rockstar Games previously followed much longer marketing cycles, revealing various pieces of information about future titles well ahead of their release.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the thought process behind Rockstar Games’ secrecy. When asked when fans would learn about GTA 6’s release date, the CEO stated that balancing excitement and unmet expectations would lead to the biggest success.
Strauss Zelnick is confident in the approach Take-Two and Rockstar Games are taking. He also stated that providing marketing material closer to release typically works better than the opposite approach.
As such, GTA 6 will likely receive its next trailer much closer to launch than past titles. This already became apparent after the title was nowhere to be seen for a full year in 2024, but the Take-Two boss has confirmed it himself in the latest interview.
We found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create excitement.
In addition to the fans, many big publishers are currently waiting on the GTA 6 release date to avoid competing against the title. As such, the final release date reveal will be a major deal for the entire industry.
