Expect FOTOR To Release In The Next 3-4 Years!

Story Highlight
  • Star Wars Fate Of The Old Republic was recently announced at The Game Awards.
  • It was showcased with a cinematic trailer and is currently in early development stages.
  • Studio head has cleared it’ll release before 2030, after a recent rumor suggested otherwise.

The rumored mystery Star Wars game was finally revealed at The Game Awards to be Fate of the Old Republic, a spiritual successor to the Knights of the Old Republic. It created a lot of hype among fans, and we might have something on its release window.

A new report suggested that the Fate of the Old Republic could be years away, with its earliest launch potentially set for at least 2030. However, the studio head has confirmed that it’ll release before that.

Why it matters: Revealing games so many years in advance is always a risky move, as many things can go wrong. Even KOTOR Remake was announced years ago, and is yet to surface, so it’s good to see the studio has a release time in mind.

Hudson has confirmed the game will release before 2030

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier took to Bluesky and suggested that the earliest we could see the Star Wars game is 2030. This made sense considering the studio is working on the title only formed this year.

It’s a big-budget AAA title, and the development easily takes at least 3 to 4 years or more in some cases. Nonetheless, Casey Hudson has confirmed the release is planned before 2030 as ‘I’m Not Getting Any Younger’.

Star Wars FOTOR Release
Star Wars FOTOR might not be released in the next 5-6 years, at least

But for those who were expecting the launch to be in the next couple of years, there’s bad news. The after-2030 release was making fans scared, as we’ve unfortunately seen games that are revealed early get cancelled in recent years.

Nonetheless, Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic will be a single-player narrative-driven experience. It is set at the end of the Old Republic and will expand the Star Wars lore even more, and it is now expected in the next 4-5 years.
