A Fresh Start For Far Cry IP!

Story Highlight
  • Casting calls have revealed brand new details on Far Cry 7.
  • The upcoming entry is said to take place in New England and feature a power struggle within the Bennets family.
  • Ubisoft is also reportedly planning a standalone multiplayer experience for the franchise.

The Far Cry franchise has been missing from Ubisoft’s catalog of AAA offerings for a while now. Following exciting titles like Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon, this series has somewhat fallen from grace, but another entry is already being worked on.

Far Cry 7 is said to be overhauling the IP in more than a few ways, and a new leak has now provided additional insight into its narrative. As per the information, the game is set in New England.

Why it matters: The setting is among the most important elements of each Far Cry title since it plays into the larger narrative, and each game presents unique themes and settings.

Information gathered from various Far Cry 7 casting calls suggests the game will revolve around the Bennets family. Layla, Brie, Krista, Henry, Dax, and Christian are said to be the main characters, with the plot centred around a power struggle within the family.

The leak describes a villain named Ian Duncan, who is said to be a conspiracy theorist. New England is also mentioned multiple times across the casting calls, suggesting that Ubisoft has chosen this location as the setting of Far Cry 7.

Because this region features a diverse geography comprising hills, mountains, and a coastline, it would offer plenty of variety typical of Ubisoft’s Far Cry open worlds. Moreover, it would present the studio with the opportunity to explore a more urban setting alongside the signature rural-style areas that were present in past titles.

Reports also state that Far Cry 7 will be accompanied by a standalone multiplayer experience, which is said to be focused on extraction shooter elements. The game is reportedly targeting a 2026 release, so more information should be available soon.
