Capcom Working To Fix Performance Issues!

Story Highlight
  • Dragon’s Dogma 2’s success has been limited by its performance issues on every platform.
  • However, Capcom seems to have acknowledged these issues and has put out a list of future updates for the game.
  • The console version of the game will receive multiple new features, including the ability to cap frame rates to 30.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has made a promising debut, yet its performance issues have detracted from its overall success. Fortunately, Capcom has acknowledged these issues and is actively working to fix them soon.

The official Twitter account of the game recently announced a forthcoming series of patches, which will include updates and fixes for Dragon’s Dogma 2. These patches aim to address various issues in the game, including performance issues.

Why it matters: The game hardly ever achieves more than 30-40FPS. However, the constant shifting between higher and lower frame rates can be jarring, so a locked target should be more consistent.

The planned updates for Dragon’s Dogma 2 encompass all platforms, offering features like the ability to start a new game when save data already exists, alongside various fixes and additions.

For the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the forthcoming updates will introduce the ability to toggle Ray Tracing and Motion Blur settings in the game. Additionally, players will have the option to lock or unlock to 30FPS.

The update mentions that these options will not have a significant impact on frame rates, with future updates planned to address frame rate improvements. However, a stable frame rate is preferable to one that fluctuates significantly.

While Capcom acknowledges the performance issues on consoles, the list of planned updates does not address any issues regarding performance in the PC version of the game.

Players are attributing the performance issues to the presence of Denuvo DRM, a technology known for causing significant performance problems in various games.

Capcom may need to consider removing this technology to address the performance issues in the game, but ultimately, it is up to them to decide.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has marked Capcom’s biggest launch on Steam to date, reaching a peak of over 184,000 concurrent players on the platform. This RPG has the potential to become a strong contender for the Game of the Year award if Capcom successfully addresses the performance issues that have plagued the game.
