Co-op Deus Ex Title?

The Deus Ex franchise has not been revisited for over 5 years. With various entries, the series has become famous for its freedom and creative gameplay mechanics.

Fans have also been looking forward to another Deus Ex game, and famous leakers like Jason Schreier have stated that another title is already in development. While little is known about the next game, we came across a new job listing that hints at co-op mechanics and a shift to Unreal Engine 5.

Eidos Montreal is looking for a Senior Game Designer, and this job listing states:

“Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5.”

“Has experience in working on co-op games.”

The developer most recently worked on games like Guardians of The Galaxy. However, this game and the last Deus Ex title were built on the Dawn Engine. However, Eidos Montreal will join the long list of developers switching to Unreal Engine 5 for their upcoming games.

This should allow cutting-edge visuals, making use of current-gen hardware. Additionally, the developer may be introducing co-op mechanics. Recent Deus Ex games have stuck to single-player experiences, but this could change with the next game.

Previously, a mod for Deus Ex titled; HX added co-op to the franchise, showing the potential for cooperative elements. As such, the unique sandbox and freedom could be further expanded with co-op gameplay.

The job listing also hints at mechanics like crafting and upgrades. One of the requirements states:

“Develop and fine-tune mechanics of leveling, skill acquisition, crafting and upgrading.”

Crafting was previously featured in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Players could use the mechanic to create consumables for use during combat.

Mechanics like leveling and upgrades are also mentioned. These mechanics are standard for the gaming industry, so, unsurprisingly, Eidos Montreal would implement them for player progression throughout the game.

The job listing certainly presents exciting possibilities for Eidos Montreals’ next title. It remains to be seen if this specific job ad is hiring for the next Deus Ex title, but the anticipation for the franchise is undoubtedly high after several years of nothing new from the series.
