- Counter-Strike 2 hit a record peak of more than 1.8 million concurrent players on Steam.
- The gaming store is also reported to have 40.8 million active users, breaking its record by 800k made just recently.
- 13 million players were reported to be in-game on Steam.
Today, PC gaming saw huge achievements, with Counter-Strike 2, one of the biggest FPS games, hitting a new peak of 1.8 million players on Steam.
For comparison, the next highest-played game on Steam is PUBG, standing at around 650k concurrent players, making it a gap of more than a million players between the next game.
Why It Matters: For a game that was initially released more than a decade ago, the longevity of Counter-Strike 2 is impressive and showcases why it’s held as the biggest FPS game on the market.
The previous peak Counter-Strike 2 had was just over 1.7 million in January, a couple of months ago. Currently, PUBG has the highest peak player number on Steam, with over 3 million concurrent players reported.
Counter-Strike 2’s market cap was also reported to hit over $4 Billion a few days ago. The game has basically become a hub for trading cosmetics.
Moreover, Steam also saw a record peak of 40.5 Million active users, 800k over its previous record that it set just recently.
The gaming platform also had a record-breaking 13 million users in-game, a 500k hike over its previous record. The significant jump in active and in-game users could be due to the spring sale and outstanding recent releases like Monster Hunter Wilds and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
These records are even more impressive, considering concurrent player peaks are usually recorded on Sundays. We may get around the same numbers, if not above, tomorrow.
