COD Vanguard Studio Leading Development!

A new year calls for a new Call of Duty title. Recent rumors have claimed that Activision is gearing up to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in November, and these rumors appear to have been spot on.

Activision has officially announced the next Call of Duty entry, confirming a November 10 release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Why it matters: Call of Duty is among the biggest annual gaming franchises. The last entry was a massive success for Activision and Infinity Ward, leading to high hopes for Modern Warfare 3.

Activision has made the recent announcement through a short teaser trailer. While not much is currently known about the upcoming Call of Duty game, fans can expect a plethora of new information and gameplay trailers in the coming days.

According to reports, Sledgehammer Games, the studio behind Call of Duty: Vanguard, is leading development on the upcoming title. Previously, the studio helped Infinity Ward with the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from 2011.

Modern Warfare 2 also teased the return of the iconic Call of Duty villain, Makarov. In addition to the villain, characters like Captain Price will return for the third game in the Modern Warfare reboot.

Modern Warfare 2 was a huge hit last year, becoming the biggest Call of Duty launch on Steam and PlayStation. It also managed to bag over $800 million in sales in just three days.

Therefore, Activision likely hopes for similar success with the third game, and a strong finale to the new Modern Warfare trilogy could ensure that the publisher meets this expectation.
