Former God of War Devs Also Involved!

Rumors of a Black Panther game started last year when Jeff Grubb revealed that a game based on the Marvel character was in development. Although the character had already been featured in Marvel’s Avengers, fans were excited for a better rendition in the future.

Nearly a year after the reports, EA has announced the single-player Black Panther game.

Why it matters: Comic book adaptations are becoming more popular in the gaming industry. Recent releases like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy have also been well-received.

Though EA has not revealed much about the game, new information has surfaced about the studio leading the development of Black Panther.

Cliffhanger Games will take care of the upcoming title. This is a brand-new EA studio that is based in Seattle and will mainly focus on AAA games. Kevin Stephens leads the studio and has previously worked as studio head of Monolith Productions.

EA also revealed that Kevin Stephens is leading a team of veterans who have worked on titles like Shadow of Mordor, God of War, and Halo. Therefore, the studio has plenty of experienced developers who have worked on all kinds of genres in the gaming industry.

Kevin Stephens stated that he has high hopes for the game. He also said:

“We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways.”

EA confirmed that the game is in early development, and Cliffhanger Games is looking for members to join the team. Therefore, fans should not expect the release of the game anytime soon.

Over the last few years, EA has returned to single-player games. The publisher has recently released games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Dead Space Remake, and more.

Pushing the genre further ahead, the gaming giant has an Iron Man game in development, and the latest announcement means that fans can look forward to two Marvel games from EA in the next few years.
