Black Myth: Wukong is one of the most anticipated upcoming games. Earlier at Summer Game Fest, developer Game Science finally allowed pre-orders, but it also revealed the title would be delayed for the Xbox Series S|X due to certain optimization issues.
Microsoft has released a statement regarding the issue, but it suggests that the delay is due to a deal with PlayStation for its exclusivity.
Why it matters: Many were quick to point fingers at the Xbox Series S after the initial announcement. However, Microsoft’s response suggests that there is more to this situation.
Following the delay, many have been curious about Game Science’s announcement. Talking to Windows Central, Microsoft said that they are working with Game Science to bring the title to Xbox Seris X|S as soon as possible.
However, what’s interesting is that Microsoft noted that it would not be able to comment on any exclusivity deals Game Science made with other platform holders, hinting at the timed exclusivity.
This statement was not made in response to Windows Central, suggesting that Microsoft is aware of the deal. Insider Jez Corden also noted that he had heard similar rumblings in the past.
