Steam Download Features A Lite Embedded Version Of Ubisoft Connect!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Steam won’t require a Ubisoft Connect download.
  • The Steam download will feature a lite-embedded version of the propriety launcher.
  • Players would only need to link both their accounts once before playing the game.

Ubisoft are trying their level best to ensure an accessible and smooth launch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. With all signs pointing towards an optimized release across all platforms, Assassin’s Creed Shadows also marks Ubisoft’s return to Day One release on Steam.

Thankfully, the Steam version won’t require players to download Ubisoft Connect, as the game already features a lite embedded version for it.

Why It Matters: Publishers forcing players to log on to their propriety launchers through Steam releases have always been a hassle. Ubisoft’s removal of these additional steps will ensure an inconvenience-free play session.

Answering one of the FAQs, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows would only require players to link their Steam and Ubisoft accounts to play the game. This would be a one-time step only, as players won’t need to re-login again.

Moreover, the title also supports cross-play and cross-progression, meaning players can pick off their saves from any platform.

Overall, it’s definitely a step in the right direction for Ubisoft to stop pushing their launcher. Assassin’s Creed Shadows has the publisher’s entire future riding on its outcome, and it is only right that Ubisoft ensures everything goes well for the game.
