Assassin's Creed 1 Remake Makes The Most Sense!

Story Highlights
  • Ubisoft is currently working on Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake.
  • However, another entry from the franchise is reportedly receiving this treatment.
  • The remake is scheduled to be released by the end of this decade.

A new report has shed light on Ubisoft’s upcoming projects and the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. According to Insider Gaming, the Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake will not be the sole remake for this series.

Tom Henderson’s sources suggest another remake is in the works.

Why it matters: The trend of remakes has already benefitted many publishers, so Ubisoft seems to be going all-in with this approach now.

Ubisoft is looking to revive its older Assassin’s Creed games, which will kick off with Black Flag. Exactly which game the team plans to remake next has not been confirmed. However, the report suggests it will be released by the end of this decade.

With the uncertainty surrounding this project, it is possible that the entry to be remade is yet to be decided. However, there is good reason to believe that Assassin’s Creed 1 might end up as the final pick.

For starters, this game is the only old entry without a modern remaster. The game is also unplayable on PS4/PS5 and Nintendo Switch, missing out on two of the biggest console markets.

Furthermore, the original entry has always had a cult following, and demands for a remake have picked up the pace recently. Ubisoft has likely taken note, potentially deciding to build this game from the ground up.

The publisher even included a reference to this game in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, incorporating a nostalgic blue filter.

Considering that Ubisoft’s primary focus is currently Assassin’s Creed Red, Hexe, and the Black Flag Remake, we won’t be hearing about the next remake for a while. However, Tom Henderson’s report has spurred excitement within the community.

Released nearly 17 years ago, the original Assassin’s Creed holds the potential to be the most authentic entry in the franchise with a proper remake. We hope this ends up being Ubisoft’s pick, though other titles like Assassin’s Creed 2 would also be welcome.
