The Launch Of Animus Hub Brings Focus Towards Modern-Day Storyline!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the first game in the franchise to launch on the Animus Hub.
  • Going forward, developers aim to focus more on the modern-day storyline with a dedicated section on the hub.
  • Assassin’s Creed’s modern-day storyline will continue both in the hub and within the mainline games.

The Assassin’s Creed storyline is deep and has been running through centuries in-game, focusing on both modern storylines and events from the past. However, for the last few entries, a focus on the modern-day has been minimized.

This will change with the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the first game in the franchise to be launched on the Animus Hub, formerly known as the Infinity platform. The series will focus more on modern-day storylines that interconnect with each game’s events.

Why it matters: Ever since Assassin’s Creed 3, the modern-day storyline within the series has been neglected and lacks proper direction. However, the upcoming release on the Animus Hub aims to deliver a plot closely tied to each game’s storyline.

In a new interview with Ubisoft from Animus Hub, the following was stated:

The intention for the Modern Day has always been to create a coherent and consistent narrative that can coexist with the historical games of the franchise moving forward.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage did leave with a cliffhanger as Loki takes over the animus after Layla’s death. With Loki, formerly Basim, as the modern-day protagonist, the Assassin’s Creed storyline is set to expand further from here.

The modern-day storyline will have a dedicated section in the Animus Hub under the “Vault,” which will unlock more missions as the Assassin’s Creed Shadows story progresses.

Missions dedicated to just the hub will also be available independently. The goal is to integrate the modern-day storyline with the content of each game.

That said, the game itself will also feature various modern-day sequences since those stories aren’t limited to just the hub. They only provide an overarching story of the modern-day Creed.
