- Ubisoft has finally started to roll out its games on Steam after so many years.
- Unfortunately, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has opened to just over 1500 CCU on Steam.
- The move towards Steam is expected to boost Ubisoft sales for future releases.
As Ubisoft finally starts to release its games on Steam, Assassin’s Creed Mirage debuts on the platform after almost a year since its original launch. However, Assassin’s Creed Mirage has underwhelmed, with just over 1500 concurrent players on Steam.
Why it matters: Ubisoft teams had been reportedly pushing for Steam releases for a very long time. After the recent poor performances of games like Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft finally decided to take the step.
While Ubisoft might have hoped for a higher number, considering how big an IP Assassin’s Creed is, Mirage has only managed to top at 1543 concurrent players on Steam. This is despite the game launching with a 50% reduced price tag.
The reviews aren’t that many either, but they are currently sitting at ‘very positive’. Mirage originally got mixed reviews from the audience and critics. It was a nice step towards the classical Assassin’s Creed formula, but the story wasn’t executed that well.
Mirage is a year old at this point and wasn’t a critical success, so huge Steam numbers weren’t expected anyway. However, with future Day 1 Steam releases like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft might be able to benefit more.
