Assassin's Creed Mirage Itself Was A DLC At One Point!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has reportedly entered a new partnership with Savvy Games Group.
  • Following the partnership, a new DLC on Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being worked on.
  • Initially hesitant to work on the DLC, Savvy Games Group was able to change Ubisoft’s decision.

While we’re just a couple of months away from Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ launch, a new report suggests that we’re not entirely done with Assassin’s Creed Mirage yet. According to French website Les Echos, Ubisoft has now entered a new partnership with Savvy Games Group.

According to the same report, the partnership with a Saudi-owned investment company has led to the development of a new DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a game released in 2023.

Why it matters: The development of a new expansion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage seems quite odd, considering the game was once a DLC. Moreover, all the hype is currently surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will launch on March 20th.

The report reveals that Ubisoft was hesitant about the DLC development since it wouldn’t benefit the game’s release. However, after Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot visited Saudi Arabia, they were able to change his decision.

The new DLC would reportedly be funded majorly by Savvy Games Group. It is speculated that more content for Mirage is needed to make the game further appealing to Middle-Eastern audiences.

Ubisoft was already looking for a potential buy-out option as the worst-case scenario, and it seems like the alleged business partnership with Savvy Games Group might be the French publisher’s calling.

According to the report, it is likely that the DLC is still in its early stages of development. Perhaps we will learn more about the expansion later this year at the Ubisoft Forward, usually held sometime around summer.
