ARK 2 Delayed To Late 2024; ARK Remastered Will Arrive In August

Developers Are Still Not Comfortable With The Unreal Engine 5

In addition to the news of the remaster of ARK: Survival Evolved with Unreal Engine 5, which apparently will no longer be a free update as the co-founder of Studio Wildcard had previously claimed.

The developer announced that they have decided to delay ARK 2 until the end of 2024. It will be released exclusively on Xbox Game Pass and Windows distribution platforms (Steam and Microsoft Store). The game was previously going to launch in Early Access in early 2023 on those platforms.

This additional time allows ARK 2 to be the best game possible and provides players with a genuinely exceptional and rewarding experience. Unreal Engine 5 is an incredible new technology, and with ARK 2, this cutting-edge technology will be used to its full potential.

As the team learns more about the engine through ARK: Survival Ascended and develops the sequel, tailored workflows and fine-tuned pipelines are created to fit this next-generation paradigm. For all that it implies, more time is needed.

Interestingly, ARK: Survival Evolved will be relaunched this year. Users will thus receive a remastered version with the same graphics engine as ARK 2, Unreal Engine 5. They are remastering the original game using Unreal Engine 5 as a benchmark for ARK 2

As ARK 2 will implement many changes, those who don’t like the new installment (Souls-like combats, in-person view, more survival, and no modern weapons ) can stay on the current ARK with improvements.

Seeing how many of the Triple-A titles of recent years have failed miserably, ARK 2 should be delayed and deliver what it promises than go viral due to poor performance or bugs.

It must be remembered that ARK: Survival Evolved became well known, in part, for the terrible performance it offered. Added to this is a visual section that wasn’t flashy, based on the Unreal Engine 4.

Considering the demands of games based on the most recent version of the Epic Games graphics engine, it is logical that they will have to work very hard not to repeat the mistakes and learn from them in remastering ARK: Survival Evolved on Unreal Engine 5.
