Bend Studio Is Reportedly Developing A Third-Person Co-Op Game, Plans To Launch Next Year

Will A Bend Game With Multiplayer Elements Perform?

Story Highlight
  • Bend Studio is reportedly working on a third-person co-op entry in an unknown franchise.
  • The studio plans to announce and launch the game sometime next year.
  • It is unconfirmed whether it is a new franchise, but it’s also not a Days Gone sequel.

Bend Studio’s portfolio has been quite dry in the PS5 era so far, as Sony reportedly cancelled multiple of its projects over the years. The aftermath saw the firing of 30% of its staff, but the remaining team has persisted and worked on a whole new project since.

A new report reveals that Bend Studio is allegedly cooking up a third-person co-op game, officially moving away from its previous single-player identity. It’s reportedly an unknown IP, and Bend appears to have given up on a Days Gone sequel for now.

Why it matters: Bend Studio’s future under Sony could greatly depend on this upcoming mystery project. While a Days Gone sequel would’ve been nice, a new third-person co-op IP could also perform extremely well without the risky live-service elements.

Bend Studios was rumored to be developing multiple projects.

As reported by MP1st, an insider source mentions that Bend Studio’s next endeavor is ‘much further along in development’ than one might think. It’s not a live-service entry but does contain multiplayer elements.

Additionally, the studio intends to announce it next year, with a launch planned later in 2027.

Unfortunately, details about its setting, gameplay, and platforms are unknown yet, but previous job listings have also mentioned multiplayer for Bend’s next game.

Besides that corroboration, reliable insider Jason Schreier also claimed in August that Bend is working on a new game following its canceled live-service title, and he also expects it to be shown in a year or two.

Days Gone 2 Bend Studio
Unfortunately, the studio doesn’t appear to be planning on launching the Days Gone sequel anytime soon.

For those not in the know, Bend Studio was reportedly leading an Uncharted revival in collaboration with Naughty Dog before working on its controversial live-service title. However, Sony scrapped both initiatives following its multiple live-service failures over the years.

Therefore, the studio’s future could greatly depend on the performance of its next project.

Do you think Bend Studio’s next game will turn out to be as big a hit as the Days Gone franchise in terms of player reception? Are you looking forward to the reveal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
