Soulframe Open Alpha Begins Nov 6 With Veilands Update

Story Highlight
  • Digital Extremes says the free Soulframe Preludes alpha opens to PC players worldwide on November 6.
  • The separate Verse of the Veilands (Preludes 17) update is planned for later in November, adding Omen Wolf mounts, new progression systems, and other activities.
  • Digital Extremes confirmed a free PC alpha opening worldwide on November 6; console and final-launch timing remain unannounced.

Soulframe is finally opening its Preludes alpha to everyone on November 6, giving players a much easier way into Digital Extremes’ fantasy action RPG without waiting on an invite.

How To Access The Soulframe Open Alpha

Digital Extremes confirmed that Soulframe Preludes will open to everyone on November 6, according to its October devstream update. That’s the big change here: you no longer need to treat Soulframe like a closed invite-only test once the open alpha goes live.

To join the free PC alpha:

  1. Visit Soulframe’s official site and create or sign into an account.
  2. Use the game’s official PC launcher when open access begins.
  3. Download the PC build when access opens.
  4. Start with the updated onboarding rather than jumping into older alpha systems blind.

Early builds of online RPGs can be rough for newcomers, especially when systems evolve between updates. The later update also promises more structure around activities and progression, which should make Soulframe less of a “figure it out yourself” alpha.

Soulframe InterviewVerse of the Veilands, or Preludes 17, is planned for later in November rather than launching alongside open access on November 6. PC Gamer described it as one of the game’s most violent upcoming updates from the Warframe studio, with the public alpha opening before that later content update.

For new players, the important bits are not just more combat or extra content. The update also changes how you move through Midrath, how you take on missions, and how the world reacts to Ode’n corruption.

The headline features include:

  • Omen Wolf mounts that begin as pups and eventually become rideable companions.
  • Votive missions designed to give players clearer objectives.
  • Veilands progression tied to purifying regions affected by the invading Ode forces.
  • New onboarding meant to help first-time players understand what Soulframe is actually asking them to do.

It’s still an alpha, so don’t expect a perfectly polished MMO-style launch. But the shape of the game is becoming much easier to explain now.

The Omen Wolf mount is probably the feature most players will notice first. Rather than just handing you a mount from a menu, Soulframe has you raise a wolf pup before it becomes a rideable companion.

That sounds more involved than the usual “press button, summon horse” setup. Based on reports from the update, the system is meant to make the mount feel like part of your journey through Midrath instead of a basic traversal unlock. OutputLag also notes that the update lets players raise a wolf pup into a mount in its open alpha report.

The exact time investment may depend on how the alpha build handles progression at launch, so it’s worth treating this as a live system rather than a final, locked feature.

The Votive mission system may not sound as flashy as wolf mounts, but it could be more important for first-time players.

In practical terms, Votive missions appear to work as a clearer structure for what you should do next. That’s useful because Soulframe is not Warframe with a fantasy skin. It has slower combat, different progression, and a more grounded world structure, so onboarding matters a lot here.

When the updated Votive system arrives, it may be a useful starting point for newcomers. They should give you a cleaner route into combat, exploration, and world progression without needing to dig through community posts just to understand the basics.

Soulframe’s environmental progression is tied to Ode’n corruption, which affects Midrath rather than sitting in the background as lore dressing.

That’s the interesting angle. Instead of progression only living in your gear screen, the world itself is part of the pushback against corruption. As you take on missions and clear areas, the environment is expected to reflect that struggle.

Of course, this is still early-access-style development. The idea is strong, but the long-term depth will depend on how Digital Extremes expands these systems after the open alpha wave arrives.

The current open alpha messaging is focused on PC. Wccftech also reports the November 6 Preludes open alpha as a PC rollout in its Soulframe coverage.

As for Steam, consoles, or a full commercial release date, that’s where things get less clear. Digital Extremes has not provided a firm public roadmap in the available announcements for when Soulframe moves from open alpha to a final launch.

The November 6 opening is an alpha playtest, not a finished commercial release; Verse of the Veilands is expected later in November. For now, the takeaway is simple: November 6 is the easiest entry point Soulframe has had so far, but the bigger platform and release timeline questions are still waiting on Digital Extremes.
