Deluxe Version Outselling Base Game In 11 Countries!

Story Highlight
  • Ghost of Yotei has recently faced significant criticism due to its involvement in a major controversy.
  • Despite the backlash, the game is performing remarkably well, with nearly two weeks remaining before its official release.
  • The deluxe edition is outselling almost every other PlayStation title across 11 different countries.

Ghost of Yotei has been receiving criticism from the fandom ever since it was revealed. The game has attracted backlash for several reasons, with the latest involving a hate comment from a developer who has since been fired. Sucker Punch has also publicly apologized for the incident.

Another controversy recently emerged after a comment made by the game’s main lead, adding further fuel to the backlash. With all the controversy and negativity surrounding it, one might expect the game to struggle at launch. However, it has already topped the pre-order charts on PlayStation Stores in multiple countries.

Why it matters: A game facing constant criticism performing this well is surprising. Still, Sucker Punch has built a strong legacy with titles like Infamous and Ghost of Tsushima, which may be contributing to the high demand.

Puff, a user on IconEra, has shared a list of countries where Ghost of Yotei is performing exceptionally well. According to the post, the game ranks within the top 3 in all 11 countries listed, even securing the top spot in several of them.

The list includes countries like the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and more. It is worth noting that the deluxe edition of the game is outselling the base version in every single country, which is quite surprising considering it costs more.

The deluxe edition does not offer any major perks or early access to the game. However, it does include the Snake’s Armor set, an alternate armor dye, a unique horse and saddle color, an in-game charm, a gold Sword Kit, and the Traveler’s Maps.

Among these, the Traveler’s Maps are probably the most notable additions.

Anyhow, it is impressive that Ghost of Yotei is outselling almost every other game in 11 countries, especially with two weeks left before its official worldwide release. The game will officially launch on October 2nd, 2025, with no details currently available on a potential PC release.
