- Bungie’s CEO, Pete Parsons has resigned from the studio after serving the developer for over two decades.
- He has left the studio in the hands of leaders from the new generation.
- With Parsons’ departure, Truman has been assigned as the next leader.
Ever since joining forces with PlayStation, Bungie’s situation has been worsening, with fans questioning whether the $3.6 billion acquisition was worth it or not.
The company has been facing a lot of hurdles ever since it began working on Marathon, a game that may take Bungie to its grave.
Amid ongoing troubles, the CEO of the studio has resigned, suggesting more issues internally.
Why it matters: Bungie is struggling a lot with Marathon as the game has been delayed, and now the fact that the CEO voluntarily resigned has raised some eyebrows.

CEO Pete Parsons announced his resignation in a new blog on the Bungie website. Parsons served the studio for 23 years and now departs with a heartfelt message to the community, saying the future of Bungie will be in the hands of a new generation of leaders.
Today marks the right time for a new beginning. The future of Bungie will be in the hands of a new generation of leaders, and I am thrilled to announce that Justin Truman will step into leadership as Bungie’s new Studio Head.
As Parsons is stepping down, Justin Truman, the General Manager of Destiny 2, has taken up the CEO position.
Parsons is quite pleased with Truman taking over. He said, “Truman has been instrumental in bringing some of the most memorable moments in Bungie’s history to life.”
After taking the helm, Truman revealed that as the developer is currently focusing more on Marathon and Destiny, more updates regarding both games will be revealed later this year.
As the leadership changes at the studio, the concern regarding Marathon still remains. Hopefully, the developer can proceed with the development more smoothly and ultimately deliver a good experience.
Following these shifts in roles, Bungie will also potentially become a part of PlayStation Studios, abandoning its independent identity.
