Combat Akin To God Of War!

Story Highlight
  • Phantom Blade Zero still won’t be as difficult as Elden Ring or Lies of P, even on its hardest difficulty.
  • The game’s combat is said to be closer to God of War than any of the souls games.
  • Phantom Blade Zero is a game for all and will appeal to every sort of player with a broader range of difficulty options.

Phantom Blade Zero is arguably the most awaited third-party PlayStation-published title for next year. On paper, gamers may confuse the title for a soulslike, but the developers have denied the claims of it being a souls or even an action game, aiming to create a unique identity.

Now, early previews have delved more into the title. One player specifically stated that the combat is more akin to God of War than any Souls game. Moreover, even on the highest difficulty level, it still isn’t as challenging as Elden Ring or Lies of P.

Why it matters: The souls genre fatigue has been settling within gamers due to every 1 in 2 games being a soulslike. It’s nice to know that some developers are taking a different approach and carving their own path.

Phantom Blade Zero recently had a hands-on preview, and one YouTuber was lucky enough to have hands-on with the game. According to GJX Game Arcade, Phantom Blade Zero gameplay is unlike anything he’s witnessed before, with a lot of kung fu action in between.

Each difficulty level also completely transforms the game, changing boss fights tremendously. The game will feature over 30 primary weapons and more than 20 secondary weapons.

The overall plot for the game follows the lead ‘Souls’, who is looking for a cure for his disease that may kill him soon. There is a counter displayed on the screen that shows how many days the player has left before their character dies. The counter also decreases each time the player dies.

Unlike soulslike titles, Phantom Blade Zero will appeal to all gamers depending on its difficulty level. Despite not being a soulslike, the game will offer a tough challenge on the highest difficulty mode.
