- With more than 500 days since the first trailer, Rockstar has just shared more details on GTA 6.
- Fans compared GTA 6’s launch timeline to Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 6.
- GTA 6 is way behind schedule, which implies that the game might get delayed again.
The gaming industry was hit by terrible news last week as Rockstar announced the long-expected delay for GTA 6. The title is now expected for a May 2026 release, almost 10 months after its initial launch date.
Aside from the delay, Rockstar has only just broken the silence on their next project, with the first trailer now being more than 500 days old. As such, fans worry that the next GTA game might face another delay.
Why it matters: More than a decade since the last release in the franchise, GTA 6 is slowly becoming the most anticipated video game ever. Constant delays make fans lose the hype for the game.

Fans compared GTA 6’s marketing schedule to previous Rockstar releases, namely Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5.
GTA 5 received its second trailer nearly a year after the first, with Rockstar releasing screenshots, wallpapers, and bits of information revealed in between. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 followed the same pattern, with its second trailer arriving almost a year later.
In contrast, GTA 6 is falling behind schedule. Its first trailer debuted in 2023, yet Rockstar remained completely silent, with no updates or follow-ups until recently. Fortunately, the latest footage looks very promising.
Red Dead Redemption 2 faced a few delays before finally releasing it on October 26, 2018. GTA 6 is arguably more ambitious than all of the past Rockstar releases, so that the title might be delayed for a second time.
With a release on such a big scale, Rockstar would take its sweet time to ensure that GTA 6 launches in a polished state, since the expectations are through the roof for the release.
