  • He says data reveals that this is a concept that creates a path to extinction.
  • The studio behind Lords of the Fallen even revealed that it would never integrate political agendas into its games.

‘Modern audience’ has become an increasingly common term in the gaming industry over the past few years. While it isn’t clear what the term exactly means, many studios reveal that their releases have been made to cater to modern audiences.

However, the Lords of the Fallen studio CEO claims that the concept of the modern audience is wrong, and instead of helping the cause, it is a path towards extinction.

Why it matters: Catering to the modern audience requires a lot of additions to games, where companies like Sweet Baby Inc. and other consultancies come in, and fans don’t usually take those additions well.

Lords of the Fallen studio CEO condemns the concept of a modern audience.

CI Games CEO, Marek Tyminski, took to X to demonstrate how this concept hurts studios and could lead to extinction. At the time of the release, the studio even expressed its intention that it wouldn’t add any political agendas to its games.

‘Modern audience’ is a false myth. Data proves it now. Making games for them is a path to extinction.

The developer even revealed that the team feared the ‘DEI Bogeymen’ would come after the game. The title was decently received, but it wasn’t exceptional because it didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

The studio revealed it won’t add political agendas to its games.

Recently, the director of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was also asked about catering to the same audience with its releases. Interestingly, he said that they did hire consultants to ensure that no sentiments were hurt because that could’ve destroyed the game.

However, the ‘modern audience’ remains a huge question, considering games like Concord had the same intention, but they failed miserably. Ultimately, if a game is good and creative enough, it is bound to do well no matter what.
