Split Fiction is our first real Game of the Year contender for 2025. The game has been a massive hit, hitting near-perfect review scores and a huge number of concurrent players, but ahead of the success, the studio already has its eyes on its next game.

Hazelight Studio has revealed that it has already started working on its next game after Split Fiction and is super focused on it.

Why it matters: Based on how successful Split Fiction has been and the quality of the studio’s previous games, we can anticipate that their next title will be something to look forward to as well.

Josef Fares, Split Fiction’s director recently talked to Skill Up and revealed some details about their next game. The studio has already started working on its next project, and they have a 130-page list of the game’s elements.

Everybody is so happy (with Split Fiction), but I’m fully focused and excited on the next thing that we already have started

– Josef Fares

The list includes what the story will be and some of the gameplay elements. From there, they will test different ideas and play around with characters and ideas to make something audiences will love and will make its way to the final version.

Furthermore, Fares also revealed that Hazelight will never do a live service game for obvious reasons and that the team loves to try new things, so they put complete passion into it whether it’s a single-player or a co-op game.

Split Fiction has of course gone on to sell over 2 million copies since launch already. It is also the first EA game in over 10 years to get a 90+ score on Metacritic. All this makes us even more excited for the next project.
