The successor to 2017’s Nintendo Switch was finally revealed recently, and all eyes are on the handheld’s pricing as it nears release. With rising inflation and tariffs, Switch 2 is expected to be the company’s most expensive release to date.

However, a higher price could even potentially break the gaming giant’s streak of successful releases. Analysts have now predicted Switch 2 to be gaming’s biggest-ever launch, with a price point speculated between $400 to $499.

According to a new report by Bloomberg, the console is expected to be released in June, with a day-one inventory of between 6 million and 8 million units. The console was previously expected to sell 6 million units within the first quarter of its release.

Switch 2 could be the biggest console launch ever if all goes well. In contrast, the PS5 sold 4.5 million units within the first quarter of its release, marking the biggest console release ever.

Overall, the handheld is expected to sell a whopping 20 million units within the first year of its release. Furthermore, the chip for the Switch 2 is expected to cost between $130 and $150, almost double the original’s cost of $80.
