Spider-Man 2 PC Release Stumbles, Becoming one of PlayStation’s Worst Launches

A Rough Start For A Big Title!

Story Highlight
  • Spider-Man 2 was finally released on PC earlier this month.
  • The title has failed to gather many players on the platform, becoming one of the worst PlayStation launches.
  • Not only did it fail to attract players, but the game currently has only 69% positive reviews on Steam.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released just two weeks ago on PC, and while the game performed really well on the console when it was first launched, the title failed to gather similar results on PC.

The game was released to mixed reviews on Steam for bugs and poor performance. Not only that, but the game has also struggled to attract players and has become one of the weakest launches on PlayStation.

Why it matters: While fans had higher expectations from the developers for the PC port, it failed to meet general expectations.

Spider-Man 2 was released just over two weeks ago, and it’s only averaging around 8K players. Looking at the peak players of the title, the game has only managed to see a little over 28K players.

This has made the title one of the worst PC launches from PlayStation, as other games like Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, The Last of Us Part 1, and even Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered had a much higher player count.

Not only has the game failed to attract players, but the reviews have been mixed at best. The title is currently at 69% positive, only behind The Last of Us: Part 1 (50%) and Horizon Zero Dawn (64%) during the first two weeks after its launch.

Marvels Spider Man 2 Sony Layoffs
Spider-Man 2 PC port did not achieve the same level of success as the console version.

At the moment, The Last of Us: Part 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn have much better reviews on Steam, though both games received a lot of criticism during their first two weeks. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the Spider-Man 2 reviews will improve in the coming time.
