Elden Ring DLC Managed To Redeem The Most Hated Character

Expert Verified By

It turns out Mohg was never the monster everyone thought he was. The Elden Ring community might just owe him an apology.

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree features multiple plot twists.
  • The story has taken a massive turn, clearing Mohg’s name from any allegations.
  • Miquella was the bad guy all along, as he used Mohg like a puppet.

Shadow of the Erdtree has proven to be a successful expansion for Elden Ring. The incredible DLC came with many new revelations, such as Marika’s origin and what happened between Malenia and Radahn.

Miquella’s scheme also came to light, shocking every single person. Of course, I didn’t expect the story to take such a turn, so it was a massive surprise. However, the most surprising thing was that the DLC addressed everything Mohg, Lord of Blood, was accused of.

Why it matters: Mohg, despite being one of the strongest demigods, was thought to be a despicable predator who wanted to achieve godhood.

Mohg Was A Mere Pawn To Miquella

Mohg, Lord of Blood Was Nothing But A Mere Pawn To Miquella

You might already know that Miquella was behind the fight between Radahn and Malenia. Basically, Miquella asked Radahn to be his consort, but he refused, so Miquella asked Malenia to attack Caelid. This would have caused Radahn to die, and his soul would reach the Shadow Realm, where he would become Miquella’s consort.

However, the body of Radahn ended up rotting, and his legs were cut in half. Also, certain hints indicate that he was blind. So, it would not have been able to serve as the main body for Radahn in the Shadow Realm.

That’s where Mohg comes into play. This person, who was hidden from all and lived in his castle as an omen, was done wrong by Miquella The Kind. This so-called persuader of peace used Mohg, who was already cursed, to enter the Shadow Realm.

Mohg was charmed by this pathetic empyrean and played the part without knowing it. However, that wasn’t the end of things. After the poor soul died, Miquella used his body to revive Radahn so he could fulfill the oath.

Radahn, despite not wanting to be Miquella’s consort, was forced to become one with Mohg’s body. So, everyone who thought Mohg was a predator and did ill things to Miquella has never been more wrong.

Mohg, Lord of Blood Apology Form

Radahn Vs. Malenia Was Orcastrated By None Other Miquella

Miquella was the one to blame, and for over two years, the community mocked the situation. Mohg was considered a predator who forced his ways with Miquella. It was thought that Miquella was pursuing Radahn to become his consort, but Malenia, without much thought, went to fight Radahn.

Due to this confusion, Mohg was said to have kidnapped Miquella, but nothing of that sort happened. Mohg never wanted to become an empyrean, let alone achieve godhood. The Lord of Blood is brother to Morgott, the person who I think has the best lore and cutscenes in the base game.

Both brothers were quite strong, and Mohg wasn’t bothering anyone as he peacefully lived in the Mohgwyn Palace. So, everyone who accused him of those horrible things should offer an apology and seek revenge on his behalf.

FromSoftware Went All Out With The Lore

There is so much more to the story, but it’s crazy how the developer made people think something for two whole years and dropped a lore bomb with the DLC. The plot twists were completely unexpected, but I am glad things turned out this way.

Miquella is the true definition of a hypocrite. He wanted to make the world a better place but to do so; he killed countless others. That said, Elden Ring has many plot twists, and a George R.R. Martin Fan can surely tell that this story comes straight from him.

Overall, in my opinion, the story is as close to perfection as a gaming narrative can get.

As for Mohg’s justice, I have already done my part. The final boss of the DLC is arguably the hardest foe I have ever faced. The boss might have some unfair moves, but given the source of my motivation, I was able to best him in a maximum of 3 hours.

Miquella’s reign came to an end before it even began, and this is something that gives me immense satisfaction. Ultimately, this story is all fiction, but Kudos to George R.R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki for writing a story so brilliantly that it makes emotions erupt.
