- Leaked files indicate a cancelled DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.
- According to various leaked locations, the DLC would take place on the Moon.
- It is unclear why it was cancelled; CDPR has now shifted attention toward the sequel.
Cyberpunk 2077 can be defined as the greatest comeback for any game released in recent years. While it was in shambles at release, it made up for it later since CDPR never gave up on the revival.
The highly successful Phantom Liberty DLC was icing on the top. However, files from another Cyberpunk 2077 DLC have leaked online, which hints we could’ve had an out-of-the-world expansion.
Why it matters: CDPR revealed that the title would get a single expansion, after which the focus would shift toward the sequel. However, it seems that there were plans for another DLC before the team moved on.
A recent leak revealed images for an unannounced ‘Moon expansion’ for Cyberpunk 2077. The work-in-progress build is reportedly from 2021 when CD Projekt Red’s servers were hacked.
The Moon, otherwise known as the ‘Luna’ in the Cyberpunk universe, is an important location and has been a base of many important operations. The Phantom Liberty DLC often mentions it with Songbird having been to the Moon.
The Moon, according to the leaks, was supposed to be Cyberpunk 2077’s second DLC, introducing a brand new location. While the first expanded Night City with Dogtown, this was supposed to take it into space.
It is important to note that we still visit the space at the end of the base game. However, an expansion would’ve been even better.
The leaker suggests the events would occur with the corps on the brink of war. The build also reveals multiple locations and spaceships, hinting we could’ve had a Starfield-like setting.
Unfortunately, we will never get the DLC, as CDPR recently revealed they’re done with Cyberpunk 2077 and are now focusing on Project Orion, the sequel.
Considering that Luna is an important aspect of this universe, we wouldn’t be surprised if the developers explored it further in the sequel. This could be one of the primary reasons the DLC was cancelled, as they might be looking to expand this IP’s scope with the sequel.
