Xbox Showcase Looks Like A Mini-E3!

Story Highlights
  • Microsoft reportedly has over 15 first-party titles for the Xbox Games Showcase.
  • Some of the titles rumored for the showcase include Halo, Gears 6, and more.
  • Xbox has a chance of redemption amid recent outbursts over studio closures and third-party releases.

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Showcase is set for June 9. Amid the event, leaks and rumors about what to expect have been circulating all over the internet. According to the latest reports, about 15 of the games revealed will be from first-party Xbox studios.

Why it matters: Xbox’s first-party output has disappointed over the last few years. But the gaming giant is looking to make a comeback with a solid lineup for the future.

Unreal Engine 5 Games on Xbox
The Xbox Showcase could be the best summer gaming event.

According to Tom Warren of The Verge, the show will be huge, with over 15 first-party games releasing this year and in 2025. This means Xbox will have more in-house content for the next couple of years than in the last three or four years.

Some of these titles have already been heavily rumored. We can almost guarantee that a new Doom game will make an appearance. Furthermore, Gears 6 is expected to be announced at the showcase.

Fans can also expect deeper dives into already-revealed games. These include the much-anticipated Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Avowed, and Fable. Adding to the excitement, Black Ops 6 will likely receive its own trailer before the Direct.

Others, like Flight Simulator 24 and the Shattered Space DLC for Starfield, are also expected. This would make the Xbox Game Showcase a great event, especially after the recent disappointing State of Play.

Xbox Series S|X
First-party studios will be essential for Xbox in the future.

All of this has been made possible by Xbox’s recent acquisitions. While 15 first-party titles may sound like a lot, Xbox owns two major publishers and various studios, like Ninja Theory.

The gaming giant has transformed into a much bigger entity over recent years. Let’s not forget that Microsoft already owned talented teams like The Coalition and 343 Industries before the mergers.

Xbox has lately been under fire after multiple layoffs and the closure of studios, especially Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin. However, fans might be willing to move on if it can deliver a good enough showcase on June 9.
