Operating Profit Grew For 11th Consecutive Year!

Story Highlight
  • Capcom reached all-time high sales and revenues, with net sales up 21% and operating income increasing by 12%.
  • The company sold 45.89 million games last year, an all-time high.
  • Games like Dragon Dogma 2 and Street Fighter 6 contributed to the success.

While various teams have struggled to keep up with the industry in 2024, Capcom continues its winning streak.

With exceptional franchises like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Dragon’s Dogma contributing to the success, the publisher’s latest financial report confirms record high sales in a single year.

Why it matters: For a studio focused mostly on single-player experiences, these figures are not common, yet the developer continues to impress time and again.

Capcom revealed its latest financial earnings statistics recently, confirming a record high in net sales, up to 21% higher than last year. Meanwhile, the operating income also increased by over 12%.

The latest report marks 7 consecutive years of record-high profits for Capcom. Meanwhile, operating profit has been growing for 11 consecutive years. Overall, the studio sold nearly 46 million games in the last year.

This included the success stories of Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, and more. This is yet another record for Capcom, making it the biggest year for game sales in the publisher’s history.

The studio states that these achievements are mostly due to the recent success of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Street Fighter 6. The former impressed nearly everyone and became a hit after selling 2.5 million copies because of the compelling gameplay and open-world design.

Moreover, the fighting game live service model is still going strong, with Street Fighter 6 remaining one of this genre’s leading titles.

Capcom now has its eyes set on Resident Evil 9. With an open-world twist on the survival-horror formula, this entry promises another year of success for the gaming giant.

There are still many IPs that the team can explore for even more growth. Among those, the likes of Dino Crisis are heavily requested, so Capcom can continue to explore more of its franchises for additional variety and consistent growth.

Because of this potential, the publisher forecasts even more growth for the next fiscal year.
