Xbox Looking At Studios Other Than Bethesda!

Story Highlight
  • Following Fallout’s revival, Xbox is looking to bring the series back.
  • Reports state Microsoft wants to release a brand-new game before the end of the decade.
  • This could lead to a partnership with a different studio for the next Fallout.

Fallout has made an excellent first impression on millions after the Amazon TV show. This series has catapulted the franchise to new heights, with Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and more experiencing waves of incoming players.

However, despite the current recognition of the series, Bethesda is unable to provide new content for the fans. The studio is too busy with The Elder Scrolls 6 to prioritize Fallout 5, but it seems Xbox is looking into alternatives to get the next Fallout game out quicker.

Why it matters: Bethesda is expected to release The Elder Scrolls 6 by 2027 or 2028. At this rate, Fallout 5 would not be possible before 2030.

During the Xbox Two podcast, the prominent insider Jez Corden made an interesting revelation.

He stated that Xbox is formulating plans for Fallout 5, and what is exciting is the fact that Microsoft wants to get it out quicker. According to Jez Corden, the current plan is to launch Fallout 5 before 2030.

They are formulating plans on how to get the next Fallout sooner rather than later.

Typically, a game needs at least four years for development. This can extend to five to six years if unexpected delays or hurdles show up, so Fallout 5 would have to start development now if Xbox wants the game out by 2030.

However, Jez Corden says that Fallout 5 would be based on Starfield’s existing engine, so it might be possible to complete the game by 2030. He also hinted that Xbox is looking at other studios for the project.

Previously, Bethesda stated that it takes time to create interesting content for a brand-new game. Since the team is already busy, Xbox’s ambitions could see it turning to a studio like Obsidian Entertainment.

This team has already worked on Fallout New Vegas before.

Fallout 4
Fallout 4 Was The Last Mainline Entry, And It’s Nearly A Decade Old Now.

Obsidian Entertainment has also expressed interest in returning to the IP. If everything lines up, Xbox could have a major opportunity on its hands.

Bethesda is clearly stretched thin between Starfield support and work on The Elder Scrolls 6. Therefore, Xbox seems to be considering its options, carefully planning the best move possible to please fans and guarantee Fallout’s relevance moving forward.
