- EA has revealed that the third Star Wars Jedi game continues its development.
- The news comes after EA canceled the recently leaked Mandalorian game from Respawn Entertainment.
- Black Panther and Iron Man games will also continue development.
Amidst all the chaos happening around the industry, a major franchise has avoided getting canceled. EA has confirmed that a third Star Wars Jedi game is still in development despite the recent cancelation of Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Mandalorian game.
Why it matters: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sold 10 million copies, and EA expects the sequel to sell a similar number of units over the sequel’s lifespan. Therefore, this series is quite valuable to the publisher.

The third Star Wars Jedi game was confirmed by Cal Kestis’ actor Cameron Monaghan not too long ago. Similarly, job listings and an interview with the former director pointed to a trilogy for the IP.
However, the confirmation has now come from EA since the publisher has explicitly said that the sequel will continue development. With the Mandalorian project canceled, Respawn Entertainment might be able to shift more resources toward Cal Kestis’ upcoming adventure.
Furthermore, EA states the already announced Black Panther and Iron Man games are moving ahead. In-house IPs like Battlefield have also been safe from grave consequences, though a separate studio for this IP has been shut down.
Ridgeline Games was established to support Battlefield as a new team. With the director departing recently, EA has completely closed this studio.
While Respawn Entertainment might not be too happy with the cancelation, the developer has shown a lot of promise with the Star Wars Jedi series. This instance might serve as further encouragement for the team, motivating it to pursue further innovation for the finale of Cal Kestis’ memorable journey.
EA also states that Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf are progressing forward.
The former is still in pre-production since BioWare is currently focused on the next Dragon Age entry, expected to arrive in 2024 or 2025. Overall, the licensed IPs have taken a hit, but original franchises are still in development.
