- It has been over a decade since Red Dead Redemption was released, and there is still no PC Port.
- The release of a PC port seems unlikely now, but a mod has brought Mexico from the first game to Red Dead Redemption 2.
- The mod is still being worked on, making only one-third of Mexico playable, but it has received a lot of praise from fans already.
Rockstar recently brought back Red Dead Redemption with a remaster for consoles. This version provides a slight bump in visuals, 60FPS gameplay, and a few other quality-of-life updates.
However, many fans had wanted the studio to remake the game, bringing it to life with visuals on par with Red Dead Redemption 2. While this is unlikely to happen, a mod for the 2018 title gives fans a glimpse at Mexico with revamped visuals.
Why it matters: Red Dead Redemption is over a decade old, but the game is still limited to consoles, with PC players being left with the option of emulation as the only way to try this title.
The mod is currently in progress, but Mexico from the first game has been added to Red Dead Redemption 2. Using this mod, players can explore the map without any restrictions, offering the closest thing to a PC port for the first game.
The mod also introduces NPCs, making the location more lively than a simple texture change. It is worth noting that the entirety of Mexico is not in the mod yet since Nuevo Paraiso is currently a work in progress.
Still, this should be a nostalgic experience for those who have yet to revisit John Marston’s first outing in many years. Unfortunately, Rockstar does not appear too interested in porting Red Dead Redemption to PC, so PC gamers might have to settle with this mod for now.
Got the NPCs working in RDR2's Mexico Mod and it seriously feels just like playing a RDR1 Remake! pic.twitter.com/FXz7PIAx2Y

There could be a few glitches and bugs in the mod, but Casa Madrugada has been 100% completed, so players should explore this location to get started.
Nuevo Paraiso is just one-third of Mexico, so there is still a lot of work to be done. Anyhow, we think the mod is doing a great job of bringing the charm of the first Red Dead Redemption to PC, and we recommend checking it out on Nexus Mods.
The Red Dead Redemption IP has sold over 80 million copies. However, with a large chunk of these sales coming from the second entry, many are still unfamiliar with John Marston’s original story.
Therefore, this mod can be quite the treat for those looking to try a new experience in the second game, being a welcome change of pace for both old fans and those who never played the first title.
