Won 6/8 Total Nominations!

Story Highlights
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 has won the most prestigious award at TGA 2023.
  • It outshined games like Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2 to claim the award.
  • The CPRG has also won several other awards at the ceremony.

2023 has been a dream for those fond of single-player games. From smaller surprises like Hi-Fi Rush to massive releases like Starfield, 2023 has delivered on all fronts. Baldur’s Gate 3 has also been a notable hit among the bigger titles.

Exceeding expectations, this CRPG was a favorite heading into The Game Awards. However, with titles like Alan Wake 2 receiving a similar number of nominations, it was clear that the race for Game of the Year would not be easy to win.

Despite the competition, the favorite has come out on top. Baldur’s Gate 3 has won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023.

Why it matters: This CRPG has seen the second biggest launch on the Steam platform this year and has been reviewed as one of the best PC games ever.

Concluding an incredible event, Baldur’s Gate 3 has held its head high as the undisputed game worthy of the Game of the Year title.

Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Wonder, and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom duked it out against this release for the ultimate honor of this event.

The game’s excellence is represented not only by this award but also by the fact that hundreds of thousands continue to visit the title on Steam to date. In November, the CPRG averaged around 130K players on the platform.

One month later, a similar number of players are still active in this title. Where RPGs like Starfield failed to make it to the nominations, Larian Studios’ release continues to showcase its impact on the industry.

Baldur's Gate 3

Unsurprisingly, this is just one of many accolades for this release. Baldur’s Gate 3 already claimed its first Game of the Year last month at Golden Joystick, swiftly moving past the competition.

We believe this year has been the most exciting for The Game Awards.

Much of the excitement for this event came about due to the industry’s hard work in 2023, and we would like to congratulate everyone who was nominated or won an award, including the talented folks at Larian Studios.
