Over 3000 Devs Busy On Call of Duty!

Call of Duty is the most popular annual first-person shooter franchise. Having consistently released new titles each year for over a decade, the series is returning with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on November 10.

The upcoming game will deliver a nostalgic third game in the rebooted Modern Warfare series, bringing back all the maps from the 2009 Call of Duty in addition to characters like Makarov.

As fans look forward to this entry and the future of the Modern Warfare series, Activision has already planned out Call of Duty’s future till 2027.

Why it matters: With a long-term strategy in place, the franchise is committed to continuing its expansion and increasing its popularity for many years to come.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

After twenty successful years of Call of Duty, Games Beat journalists reached out to Activision president Rob Kostich to discuss the franchise.

A lot of details were revealed in the interview. However, most importantly, the president asserted that the franchise has games planned out till 2027, and 3000 developers are currently working on the franchise. He said:

“we have games planned out all the way through ’27.”

The president believes Call of Duty’s current relevance is a result of careful planning from Activision and its studios.

Each new release brings a lesson for Activision, providing valuable feedback about player preferences. This feedback also encouraged Activision to stick with modern settings, with the president claiming these settings are the best received.

The publisher appears to be continuing this approach moving forward, using the incredible skills of 3000 talented developers to bring more Call of Duty games in 2024 and beyond.

This interview also shed light on the publisher’s future after merging with Microsoft.

The president of Activision believes this merger will open up new possibilities for Call of Duty, allowing the franchise to bolster its high production values for more immersive gameplay experiences thanks to Microsoft’s tech and tools.
