With the next PlayStation Showcase just days away, more details on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are right around the corner. Having sold over 30 million copies, the franchise has set high expectations, and the sequel could be Insomniac Games’ most successful release yet.
While more details are coming soon, a new Q&A may have provided a small teaser ahead of the PlayStation event. According to the Q&A, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature co-op elements.
Why it matters: Insomniac Games’ recent releases have been limited to single-player content. A co-op mode would also be appropriate for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 since the game features both Miles Morales and Peter Parker.
Nadji Jeter is the voice actor for Miles Morales in the Insomniac Spider-Man games. The voice actor recently conducted a Q&A session, where he was asked about co-op in the upcoming title. He replied:
“I think so, yeah. You’ve seen part 2 trailer right? That has given you a little sense of that.(Co-op)”
The voice actor referred to the trailer from 2021 that highlighted both Miles and Peter fighting together. This could mean that Insomniac Games has implemented a mechanic that allows two players to control each character at the same time.
On the other hand, Insomniac Games previously confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be single-player only. However, the developer could have changed plans and implemented an additional co-op mode separate from the main story.
It is also possible that the voice actor was talking about seamless switching between the two characters. Nonetheless, the possibilities for co-op are extremely exciting, and it would be another great addition to the title.
Previously, the SIE CEO said the game is developed for the PS5, so no compromises have been made. The developer also teased a new dialogue technology that fans can expect to see.
