Huge Success For Ark!

Since its release in 2015, Ark: Survival Evolved has come a long way as a survival game. First released on PC in 2015, the game became a popular MMORPG and also made its way to other platforms like PS4 and Xbox One.

Expanding on this success, a LinkedIn profile discovered by user Timur222 reveals that Ark: Survival Evolved has now grossed over $1.3 billion since its release in 2015.

Why It Matters: Ark: Survival Evolved, grossing over 1.3 billion, is an incredible feat as the game was developed by a relatively smaller studio. The game is nearly a decade old and still continues to remain relevant.

Ark: Survival Evolved has also sold a whopping 16 million copies across various platforms. Following its addition to the popular Microsoft subscription, the game also became one of the most popular titles on Xbox Game Pass.

A remastered version of Ark: Survival Evolved, dubbed Ark: Survival Ascended, will release later year in August. The remaster will be based on Unreal Engine 5 as a benchmark to Ark 2.

The remastered version will introduce features like crossplay, quality-of-life improvements, better graphics, and the integration of Survival of the Fittest into the main game. This version could introduce an all-new audience to the game.

Following the success of the first entry, studio Wildcard is currently developing a sequel to the game based on Unreal Engine 5. The sequel will feature an expansive story driven by Vin Diesel and introduce significant changes from the first game.

Ark 2 is set to launch in 2024, and those who don’t like the gameplay changes in Ark 2 can continue to enjoy Ark: Survival Ascended.
