Square Enix Ends Its Contract With Sweet Baby Inc.

A Good Move By Square Enix!

Story Highlight
  • Square Enix is no longer on the list of clients of the DIE firm Sweet Baby Inc.
  • Recently, its legendary dev stated that game characters should be cool, not ugly.
  • The company’s approach towards character designs can be clearly seen from their last few games.

Sweet Baby Inc. is the notorious company responsible for forced inclusivity in the gaming industry. While many companies have partnered with the firm and ruined their video games, Square Enix has taken a great step and is no longer a client of Sweet Baby

Why it matters: Recently, a Square Enix director claimed that game characters shouldn’t be ugly but cool and inviting. This can be seen with their recent games; the company seems to want nothing to do with firms that force DEI in games.

Square Enix is no longer on the list of companies associated with Sweet Baby Inc.

Unfortunately, Sweet Baby has become a huge part of the industry, and the fandom thinks there should be no place for them. The company has messed up character designs so badly that it makes you move away from them.

Some of the recent examples include turning Mr. Freeze into Mrs. Freeze for the Suicide Squad game. Assassin’s Creed Shadows also seems to be influenced by the company, and the list goes on.

In this outrageous time, it is refreshing for companies to take a step in a different direction and deliver to fans what they want. Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science refused to work with them, and look how successful their title is

Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Square Enix has some of the best character designs in the recent history

However, other companies are still integrating these elements within their games. For context, Bandai Namco stated that the audience wants more inclusivity and diversity in games, which is the polar opposite of what the fans want.

Another example of a game ruined by DEI is Concord. The game had potential, but it became the biggest failure in the history of gaming thanks to the ugly characters, generic theme, and $40 price tag

Anyhow, Square Enix deserves a lot of praise for standing up. It is really unfortunate to see names like Xbox, Santa Monica, and others still working with them.
