  • The console’s reveal was epic, generating a commotion among the fandom.
  • More details regarding the handheld will be revealed during the Switch 2 Direct event on April 2, 2025.

The industry has been full of leaks regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 for the past few months. Fans and analysts, of course, cooked up different theories about the console while keeping the leaks in mind.

However, Nintendo didn’t care about that and followed its timetable. Just now, out of nowhere, the gaming giant has revealed the much-awaited Switch 2.

Why it matters: The speculation and hype for the console have been huge. Nintendo has garnered a massive fandom thanks to its dedication to making quality games and, of course, its handheld.

Out of nowhere the gaming and tech giant released the first look for the console. The reveal is actually quite interesting with some fans even claiming “This is the quietest most chill console reveal”, making perfect sense.

The Joy-Cons this time seems to be black and its controller appears to have a major improvement over its predecessor. The improvement is related to the magnet as the Nintendo Switch owners had experienced issues where the controllers would loosen up. However, that seems to have been fixed with the upcoming console.

Nintendo hasn’t revealed any more information regarding the Switch 2 release date or price so we are going to see a lot more speculations. The console’s full reveal, including new games and more, will take place on April 2nd during the Switch 2 Direct event

It is also worth noting that the upcoming console will play both physical and digital games that were released for its predecessor, and some of them might not be supported or fully compatible, which was well within expectations. More details will be shared on the official Nintendo website later

Without any information on the official specifications, we have to resort to leaks to talk about the specs of the Nintendo Switch 2. This console would arrive with an 8.4-inch OLED screen powered by an NVIDIA Tegra T239 SoC with 12 GB of RAM at 7,500 MT/s and 256 GB of internal storage.

When connected to the TV, it is between a PlayStation 4 and a PlayStation 4 Pro in terms of power. Of course, it will be supported by upscaling technology such as NVIDIA DLSS or similar to help offer a screen resolution of up to 4K at 30 FPS.

To this end, the Nintendo Steam 2 has seen its Dock Station revamped. The known information is completed with the support of the new MicroSD Express memory cards. This implies drastically reducing the loading times of the games.

As for its price, it is speculated that it will arrive at $399 with its games costing between $69 and $79. It will not be until April 2nd that we will know everything about this next-gen console from the Nintendo camp.
