Outselling Everything 2 Months Before Launch!

Story Highlight
  • Black Myth: Wukong was finally shown at Summer Game Fest, with pre-orders going live after the trailer.
  • The game is now Steam’s #1 best-selling game.
  • It was also the platform’s most wish-listed title before pre-orders went live.

More details about Black Myth: Wukong were finally shared during the recent Summer Game Fest. In addition to information on the physical edition, the more expensive collector’s edition, and more, pre-orders were finally made available.

Since then, it seems PC gamers have rushed out to purchase this Souls-like. Shortly after the game was made available for purchase, Black Myth: Wukong joined Steam’s best-sellers list.

Why it matters: The game is still two months away from release, but it has beaten the likes of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree on the list.

As seen above, Black Myth: Wukong has become Steam’s #1 best-seller less than one full day after pre-orders went live.

Even when free-to-play titles are added into the mix, this Souls-like reigns supreme as Steam’s hottest seller at the moment. Other highly anticipated titles like Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and Bodycam have also been beaten.

Among these, the former just received a release date yesterday, creating new buzz among fans awaiting the ultimate Dragon Ball gaming experience. On the subject of Black Myth: Wukong, it is interesting to note that the Souls-like was Steam’s most wish-listed title before pre-orders.

Therefore, it seems most of those wishlists translated to direct sales, allowing the game to shoot up to the best-sellers list in no time.

Black Myth: Wukong’s latest showing wasn’t the most impressive since it was limited to a forty second CGI trailer.

However, the studio has portrayed this title as an incredibly ambitious Souls-like in the past. With several years of marketing and hype behind it, the Souls-like is being considered one of 2024’s biggest releases.

Many even believe Black Myth: Wukong will be a Game of The Year contender. This is certainly a bold claim in a year with excellent releases like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Hellblade 2, and more.
