Ryzen 9000 Cheaper All Around Than Last-Gen CPUs!

Story Highlight
  • AMD Zen 5 desktop CPUs are finally coming out next week.
  • The prices of the CPUs have been revealed today through online retailers, as the CPUs were supposed to launch today before the recent delay.
  • The prices look quite decent, making Zen 5 a tough competitor for Intel.

Last week, AMD slightly delayed the launch of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs, which were previously scheduled for 31 July. The company pushed it back for two weeks, with the new chips now coming on 15 August.

Moreover, the official prices of the AMD Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs have also been revealed through BestBuy.

Why it matters: Until recently, prices had shown up through various listings, sparking speculation about AMD’s decisions. The latest listing reveals what will be the official pricing for Zen 5 CPUs.

The Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs have shown up at retailers like BestBuy today. Since these CPUs were expected to arrive today, the official prices have also been revealed through these listings. The following are the prices revealed for the next-gen Ryzen CPUs:

These prices are all typically lower than AMD’s last generation chips. For instance, the Ryzen 5 9600X is $30 cheaper, while the Ryzen 9 9900X is a whole $100 cheaper.

This is likely because Zen 5 CPUs don’t offer as big an upgrade. Moreover, they are slower than last-generation 3D V-Cache chips. Still, options like the Ryzen 9 9950X for $599 seem very attractive.

With Intel currently struggling to work out its CPU stability problems, AMD may be able to find a competitive edge through these prices. The Ryzen 9 9950X also seems like a solid option over the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KS since both CPUs retail for over $500.

The Ryzen 7 9700X also appears to be a decent option with the $359 price tag. Finally, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, priced at $279, should be a solid entry-level offering. Ultimately, all these CPUs hold the potential to mark another successful generation of AMD processors.
