Xbox To Host Multiple Gaming Showcases Each Year In The Future

Because First-Party Lineup Is Big Enough!

Xbox has continued to grow and expand, producing more games with a larger number of studios under its belt. Following the Activision Blizzard merger, Microsoft will be home to various developers working to produce games for the Xbox platform.

Over the last few years, the gaming giant’s first-party lineup has not been the strongest. However, this is expected to change, with a continuous stream of content and games over the course of the current generation.

According to the Xbox CEO, Microsoft may require multiple showcases and events each year to accommodate this growing lineup of games.

Why it matters: Xbox aims to release as many as 4 major first-party games each year, and this statement hints that this target is within reach of Microsoft.

Phil Spencer Xbox

During Gamescom 2023, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer spoke to IGN about the future of first-party games after 2023.

September and October will see the release of Starfield and Forza Motorsport, but various games have already been revealed for the upcoming years. Phil Spencer elaborated on the first-party games and said:

“You’re going to see more regular times to talk about our games because the portfolio is deep enough.”

Phil Spencer also acknowledged that 2022 was not a strong year, admitting that Xbox had been limited to an annual showcase in past years. However, this has already changed in 2023.

The gaming giant conducted a Developer Direct at the beginning of the year. This was followed by the recent showcase in June, and the gaming giant has continued this momentum in August with Gamescom.

Xbox Game Pass

Therefore, fans should expect more events hosted by Xbox and an even larger presence at events like The Game Awards moving forward. Microsoft’s future lineup includes games like Fable, Hellblade 2, Perfect Dark, Avowed, and more.

These games will start releasing in 2024, leading to plenty of titles for the gaming giant to talk about.

Xbox fans are in for an exciting time ahead, with the gaming giant boasting a return to form after several years.

Starfield is an important factor in this future success, with a Microsoft executive dubbing it the ‘starting gun’ for a massive list of first-party games in 2024 and beyond.
