The games industry is no stranger to Ubisoft. The French giant has been well known for franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six for years now. Very recently it was announced that Ubisoft would be making a Star Wars game working together with LucasFilms and Disney. This partnership is a no brainer considering Ubisoft’s open-world formula is a match made in heaven for the Star Wars universe.

The game is being worked on by Massive Entertainment. Massive Entertainment is well known for their work on the Division games and they will once again be using the gorgeous SnowDrop Engine to bring the project to life.

Recently however, industry insider Tom Henderson has talked about a possible release time frame for the game. Going by his tweet, fans should not expect to see the game before 2025 at the very least. This makes sense since development is likely in very early stages and the current world challenges have probably not done the game any favors. Tom Henderson is a very reliable source and has a proven track record of sharing information before official announcements.

Ubisoft is likely to handle this game with extreme care and passion given that this is their first venture into the Star Wars universe. This is also likely to be the first open-world Star Wars game and as such will be a dream come true for many fans. With the SnowDrop Engine and the power of the current-gen consoles, this game could very well turn out to be the ultimate Star Wars experience.
