Even More AAAA Games After Skulls And Bones?

Story Highlight
  • The first ever game released as AAAA was Skulls and Bones, but it was a disappointment.
  • Ubisoft is the only company that has launched an AAAA game.
  • The company seems to be working on more unannounced AAA and AAAA game projects now.

Ubisoft’s standing as a gaming company took a really bad turn this year, and it is trying to recover from the disaster. It has been a long time since the developer made a game that offered a groundbreaking success.

Ubisoft was once a gaming powerhouse and a favourite of many is now fighting to preserve its spot in the industry. Despite struggling the gaming giant seems to be working on more AAAA and AAA projects that are yet to be announced.

Why it matters: The gaming company introduced Skulls and Bones as its first-ever AAAA game, which attracted criticism from many fans. Even CDPR made fun of the company by saying The Witcher 4 would be an AAAA game

This information comes from Karthikeyan S, a junior sound designer at the company’s Indian division. Karthikeyan has been working at the company for nearly two years and has been working on unannounced projects.

Responsible for creating Sound design, SFX and foley for the unannounced AAA and AAAA game projects.

This almost confirms that the gaming giant is working on more ambitious projects but has yet to confirm their existence. That said, fans might not be optimistic about these game projects as Ubisoft’s AAAA game debut wasn’t really a successful one

Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones, First Ever AAAA Game, Was A Disappointment

Skull and Bones was massively criticised by the fandom, and it wasn’t a commercial success either. Just three months after launch, the game was available for a mere $20, which shows that it failed to attract the desired sales.

That said, Ubisoft seems to have learned a lot from the failure of Star Wars Outlaws, as it had to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The CEO also aims to be a key player in the industry, so there is little hope for the company
