CDPR Wants All Eyes On Witcher 3 During DLC Hype!

Story Highlight
  • New DLC for The Witcher 3 has been rumored for a while now.
  • A Polish analyst believes CDPR will launch the new content in September to avoid competition against GTA 6.
  • It is said that this window would give CDPR enough time to test the DLC while guaranteeing success.

The Witcher 3 remains incredibly popular ten years after its release, and recent excitement around The Witcher 4 has players more interested than ever before in the series.

Amid the building excitement for The Witcher 4’s release, many are also looking forward to the long-rumored DLC for The Witcher 3. This DLC alone is expected to sell millions of units, with a release date potentially planned for Q3 2026.

Why it matters: The Witcher 3 sold over 50 million units, so the DLC is expected to have a huge audience waiting for it in Q3. Moreover, it could lead to a boost to the RPG’s already-massive fanbase.

The Witcher 3 Changed Things Forever For CDPR

Polish site Strefa Inwestorów recently reported on the rumors regarding The Witcher 3 DLC making the rounds.

As per an analyst’s comments, the DLC will likely be positioned to launch before Q4 in order to avoid a clash with GTA 6. He believes September would be the optimal window for CDPR to position this new content as a notable addition to the RPG.

The analyst says that September would work best for CDPR, because it would give the team enough time to test the DLC. Moreover, the team could skip the summer season, which the analyst sees as a vacation period for gamers.

I assume that CDPR will try to release the DLC before the new GTA release date to avoid this difficult period for other titles. I think September is the best window.

The Witcher 3 DLC Might Avoid Competing With GTA 6

This prediction aside, it is important to note that it’s hard to pinpoint an exact release window since plans are always in flux. It’s no secret that many studios intend to avoid competition with GTA 6, so the analyst’s predictions still hold a lot of merit.

The team has yet to share any official word on the matter so far, but if The Witcher 3 is indeed set to receive new DLC as rumors suggest, an announcement should now be quite close.
